Our solar system is on the exact edge of the Milky Way galaxy, and around 26 000 light years from its galactic centre. For man, this enormous distance is an unimaginable length of time, but from the global cosmic point of view is like a bolt of lightning across the sky. The released energetic pulse is already affecting the whole galaxy including the little dot we call our solar system. Very soon it will reach us and hit us with full strength.
